A little bit About me

I’m Matthias, a German photographer based in Steenwijk, the Netherlands, where I live with my husband. We recently got married, so in case you are looking for a wedding photographer, I know exactly what you are going through at the moment :)

I bought my first DSLR camera when I was 14, and photography quickly became a space of my own. I would get up early and head into the city with my camera, photographing empty streets before the rest of the world woke up. Those quiet mornings sparked a love for photography that has stayed with me ever since.

Growing up across Singapore, Tokyo, Madrid, Beijing and Berlin shaped the way I see the world. It taught me to notice the character of a place, the beauty in everyday details and the stories unfolding around me. Travel was where my photography began, but over the past three years, people have become its heart. Creating images that allow someone to return to a feeling, a connection or a moment is what I love most.

Before giving photography a more central place in my life, I built my career in marketing and brand communications at L’Oréal and Philips for the past 7 years. That experience sharpened my eye for storytelling, aesthetics and the small details that make an image feel intentional.

I speak German, English and Dutch, as well as a little French. While I am based in The Netherlands, I am very flexible in where my clients want me to be - 2026 alone I have been booked across the UK, France and Italy.
